“chocantemente engraçado… um dos espetáculos imperdíveis da década.”
The Guardian

This winter Schockheaded Peter returns to New York, featuring The Tiger Lillies and the Original London cast.

In the spirit of Tim Burton and Edward Gorey comes Shockheaded Peter, a hilariously gruesome musical staging of a classic 19th century children’s book. The London smash hit and Olivier Award winner, Shockheaded Peter has beguiled and horrified audiences worldwide. And it arrives in NYC with the original British cast, featuring London’s favorite underground cabaret act, The Tiger Lillies. Young Harriett and her pyrotechnic tendencies, little Conrad and his insatiable thumb-sucking, and many others come to gleefully gory ends in this acclaimed import which was hailed by London’s The Guardian as “one of the must-sees of the decade. Recommended for ages 10 to 110. Children under 4 years of age will not be admitted into the theatre.

Thank you for that. You know it is every bit as good as they say.

Hi, Paulo and Julian

I am back, now in English!

I could take a look on the video clip show at the official web site and it seemed pretty cool indeed. I read that this show is based on a sequence of unpleasant poems about a boy that never cuts his hair or trims his nails and the red-legged scissor man waiting in the wardrobe for thumb suckers.

Wow!!!

If NY wasn’t so far from here, we (Me, Paulo and Ivan) would be able to go to a Special late night performance discount. (Of course, taking our favorite pop drinks from Lojas Americanas with us) lol

Congratulations, Julian!!! As you can see here, I am not so good at English as my friend Paulo, but it will be my pleasure to have your address in my adressbook and, if it is possible, have some chat for these days.

Paulo is a talented illustrator and art director, and I am very proud of being his friend and partner in some jobs.

By the way, my sister is going to New York City in October. She, her partner and a friend are going to a fashion fair to get some ideas for their business (www.sognibelli.com.br). They will spend some days in NY and then, go to Disney. I am thinking of going with them, if I got the visa. (I tried once but I couldn’t get it – Oh Dear!)

So, I’ve already told her about Shockheaded Peter. Julian, will this show be seen in New York till next October? Where can I find the original poems of Heinrich Hoffmann?

Cheers!

Hi Enio,

Thank you for the English. It seems every bit as good as Paulo’s. Obviously not quite as showy though (joke for Paulo).

Here is the link to the original Hoffmann poems. I hope you have a fast connection. it is quite a large page. http://bugpowder.com/andy/e.hoffmann.html

I am certainly hoping our show will still be running in October. it just depends how much those Americans are liking it. let me know if your sister or yourself need a ticket and I will wrestle the 23 co-producers and try and get one of them to release some to you for free. I can but try.

Yours, Julian

Hm – that link doesn’t seem to work straight from the Basin. Probably needs some code of some kind. Best to copy and paste it. it is worth a visit.

julian

it was the full stop at the end that was stopping it i think. http://bugpowder.com/andy/e.hoffmann.html

I won’t say it again

Paulo [brabo!]

Hm – I don’t know if I should have, but I corrected the link in your first post. I’ll leave the rest amusing as it is.

Egads! Gruesome tales indeed, specially poor Harriet and those matches. Euch!

I needed that.

I didn’t know about this New York Shockhead website. It’s new. It will be changed to give myself and Phelim my co director a more prominent credit. I told them that I only saw the website because of friends in Brazil. Thank you for finding it.

Paulo [brabo!]

Egads!

You’re welcome, pal.

Hi, Julian

That’s very kind of you to do that.

I’ve already told them about you and the Shockheaded Peter, and sent them the link of the official page.

Let’s keep in touch. I think that it is still early to say something about it, but they will have a more precise position later, in August or September.

All of them sent you a big hug, as we use to say here.

Regards,

Enio

julian

Well, if it lasts that long I will have made some money, and will no doubt be visiting you. Until then, return a hug to all of them.
